Seagull Cooling Technology has recently been awarded by EGAT (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand) with their Cooling towers revamp project in Mae Moh Power Plant in Thailand. It is a significant milestone for Seagull Cooling Technology as it is the largest reconstruction project from Crossflow wooded tower to Counterflow FRP towers in South East Asia, also it is Seagull’s first power plant project in Thailand.

Project introduction

Seagull provides the revamp service for 18 crossflow wood towers turning into Counterflow FRP towers while the plant is still under operation. Mae Moh power plant is located in Mae Moh sub-district, Mae Moh district, Lampang province with total generating capacity of 2,400 MW.

By offering a number of plans and schemes, together with rounds of technical and commercial evaluations, Seagull Cooling Technology got awarded at the end of 2016. This cooling tower revamp project is a turnkey project including equipment supply, along with field assemble and erection. Flow rate per cell is 3,680 m³/h. The FRP profiles of cooling tower structure is fabricated in accordance with CTI-137 requirements, the structure design of the cooling tower will be performed as per UBC and ACI code specification which to considering the seismic, wind load, load combination design into the cooling tower structure design to achieve a stable and long life time structure.
